Will Tam Cowan Eat Humble Pie?

Last updated : 06 March 2003 By Dave Webster
Dear Tam

Given you are no stranger to pies, we trust you won't mind swallowing a
large slice of the humble, Dundee variety...

Re your dig at us in the Daily Record today "Dens fans fear they're being
Dun" and your suggestion that punters who forked out to attend the abandoned
Hibs fixture should have been admitted to the re-arranged game free of
charge....

We warmly applaud this suggestion - cos it's exactly what we did. All fans
who paid to get in to the Feb fixture got vouchers entitling them to free
entry to the rearranged game. In addition, gate prices were lowered to £5
and £1 for Hibs and Dundee punters who hadn't been at the original game in
an effort to swell the crowd. All this was reported by most of the sports
pages, `though strangely not the Record, which perhaps explains this
critical gap in your otherwise elephantine knowledge of Scottish fitba.

Hope this sets the Record straight - literally - and we are free to go on
crowing about our ticket prices for a wee while longer.

Should you feel particularly repentant, a modest donation to DFC's charity
appeal in aid of the the Princess Elizabeth Children's Hospital in Port of
Spain, Trinidad would go a long way to putting a smile back on the faces of
our directors, ticket office and backroom staff!

All the best
