After the success of the "Dark Blue Heaven" painting project, DFCSS Volunteers' Co-ordinator Kenny Valentine has been in touch with the club regarding further initiatives and is delighted to offer fans another chance to volunteer to help spruce up Dens Park over the close season. "I met with Jim Thomson at Dens on Tuesday to discuss maintenance work that the Club would greatly appreciate our help in tackling. We are keen to get started as soon as possible and thought that a few of you may be at a loose end on a Saturday afternoon now, Saturday the 21st of May to be precise!" A selection of the work that we hope can be completed on this date includes: * Wire brushing of railings in the Bobby Cox, Bob Shankly and Main stand * Pointing of wall in the South Enclosure * Painting of coving in the South Enclosure * Painting and repair of fence at rear of South Enclosure * Shuttering/repair of steps in South Enclosure, Bobby Cox and Bob Shankly stands * Clearance of weeds and tiding of gravel behind Bobby Cox and Bob Shankly stands * Brushing/scraping down of safety yellow paint lines in all areas * Painting of Main Stand window ledges in Sandeman Street * Painting of perimeter wall in front of Main Stand Kenny continues "we may also have a request to clear the Densonian Rain Forest at the rear of the South Enclosure however this is yet to be confirmed due to Health and Safety reasons. Jim will kindly be arranging for the Penman Lounge to be opened, so the hard workers can watch the Cup Final and enjoy a free buffet as a thank you for all your hard work" As you'll see from the above "there is something for everyone!" We'd like to ask if any volunteer is experienced in pointing, bricklaying (or similar) or laying laminate flooring, please can they contact Kenny by e-mail if they are able to offer their services. We hope to release more details shortly, in the meantime we do have the following information: * All volunteers should report to the main concourse of the Bobby Cox Stand at 11am * Due to Health & Safety reasons all volunteers must be 16 years or older * Please bring any of the following (if you have them) to help with the work: Wire Brush, deck brush, hoe, rake, masonry paint brush/roller (the Club have a number of these items but clearly it helps if we can bring our own) * Tea and Coffee will be provided * A free buffet (for volunteers) and pay bar in the Penman to watch the Cup Final will be available If you are willing, able and want to help, please email Kenny Valentine so he can firm up the numbers. As ever Millars Specialist Decorators have very kindly offered their help. A significant amount of the work we are aiming to complete will allow them to carry out numerous painting projects all at no charge to Dundee FC! Another fantastic gesture. "I very much look forward to seeing as many as you as possible and am confident that we can deliver similar results as at our last event" said Kenny.
