Monday 12th August. I’m a member of the Development Committee which was set up as recently as mid-June of this year to help plan a new, positive and progressive future for DFC Supporters’ Society. This evening (12th August), barely two months later, I found myself to be one of six candidates voted onto the DFC Supporters’ Society board at the Special General Meeting held in the Gardyne Theatre. And just twenty minutes later, as the result of the first vote taken by that board, I found myself elected to the DFC board of Directors as the fans’ representative! To say I was surprised would be a masterly understatement!

Tuesday 13th August. Found myself on stage at the Gardyne Theatre again in front of a well attended shareholders meeting. This, of course, was the meeting that rubber stamped acceptance of Football Partnership Scotland’s proposal to invest in our football club.

Thursday 15th August. An informal DFCSS meeting was held. We began with a blank piece of paper. Where should we start? The first formal meeting was set for the following Thursday, by which time we’d have a clearer idea of what we had to tackle and how we’d set about prioritising the various tasks

Monday 19th August. I attended my first  DFC board meeting, during which I was made to feel very welcome and a number of very good and positive steps were taken. I assured my co-Directors that DFCSS are here to help the club in any way we can and that our intention is to take the focus off shares and help directly with ways in which we can assist the club with such tasks as maintenance within Dens Park, etc. I also made it known that I'm happy to attend any supporters club monthly meeting for a Q&A so you get all your information you seek from the horse’s mouth so to speak.

Thursday 22nd August. This was the first formal meeting of the DFCSS board, and top of a packed agenda was the electing of people to posts. Every board member has been given a job to do and will report back at the next meeting with what progress has been made along with any help he or she might need in order to complete any given task. The emphasis will be on getting all fans groups i.e. DFC Supporters’ Society, Dundee Supporters Association and the Dark Blues Business Trust, all working together. And it was agreed that the DFCSS will always have some board members available for a chat in the Andy Penman lounge before any home game.

Today, 27th August. DFC board meeting.
