sporting post

following on from a topic on the message board, its about time this piece of dundee heritage made a long overdue return in my opinion.

going back to my youth there was no better sight than seeing the sporting post arrive at the local newsagent, you would most definately be standing in a large queue with your exact money ready.

up the road and you had to hand it over to your father so he could check the pools results that were formed by a long coloum at the bottom

of either the 1st or last page.then right to the dundee game even if you had been to the match,it was a must read, the home team always took the front page so it was utd one week and the dees the next.

there was also great local football coverage including junior football matches and indeed the saturday juvenile and bb scores.50

if i remember correctly there was also a bowling section, for the aulder lads, and not to mention the upto date league tables,oh how i miss that paper,i would definately pay a pound for the return of the olde dundee favourite that was the sporting post,as i got older it was quite funny arriving off the 7 oclock bus from the dundee clubby after a match half gassed up the stairs ,a beady glare from the mrs and tea banged down on the table haha, best bit was i would then try and read the post through one eye.bring back the sporting post dc's and quickly.
