Scottish games hit by bad weather

After all six Clydesdale Bank Premier League matches scheduled for Saturday were postponed on Wednesday due to safety concerns as a result of the snow which has covered the country, the number of postponed Irn-Bru First Division matches rose to three.

Of Saturday's five scheduled First Division fixtures only Queen of the South's match with Stirling and Ross County versus Morton survived - for now, at least - with Dundee-Cowdenbeath and Falkirk-Raith Rovers called off on Thursday along with Dunfermline-Partick Thistle, which was postponed on Wednesday.

A statement on Dundee's official website, www.dundeefc.co.uk, read: "Saturday's scheduled fixture against Cowdenbeath has been postponed due to the weather.

"Safety of spectators is obviously our priority and the condition of the streets around Dens made it impossible to get the game on.

"The game has been rearranged for Tuesday, December 14 at 7.45pm."

A statement on Falkirk's official website, www.falkirkfc.co.uk, read: "There was another significant snow fall overnight and as a result Saturday's match has been postponed.

"Following consultation with our pitch contractors it was deemed impractical to clear the volume of snow that has now accumulated on the pitch."
