Press Conference At Dens - Part One

Last updated : 17 April 2003 By Dave Webster
Dundee-Mad were invited along to Dens Park today for the pre-Semi Final Press Conference. With something like 50 press men from all sections of the media in attendance, James Hegarty, Sailor Hunter and Wendy represented Dundee-Mad, got to chat to the players and took loads of pics.

The following are just some of the pics taken and some of the quotes made.

Sailor Hunter made the following report about the Press Conference:-

"James the Snapper , Bendy Wendy and myself are just back from The 1pm Conference.

James will have pictures on line on line ASAP and a big Thank you to DFC and Niall Scott for allowing The Dundee Mad Website to be represented.

The conference took place in the concourse underneath the Main Stand with all the nationals, radio and TV companies present.

Most of the first team were present and journos moved around from player to player asking questions ,the usual clichied(?) stuff - like who do you think will win on Sunday etc.

Most of the Scottish players read this and the official messageboard and are delighted of the backing that the fans are giving them.

Gavin Rae in an exclusive(lol) to Dundee Mad and The official site says that he is close personal friends with Dennis Wyness of ICT and that he believes that the game will be close and very hard fought.

He also states that The Fans will be like a 12th Man on Sunday and to remain patient and back the team 100% as usual.

Duff was his usual laid back self and was quietly confident and was delighted the game is being played at Hampden and that the pitch was in superb condition. He happilly posed for photographs for Dundee Mad and generally has a fantastic presence and handles the press superbly.

Duff fully realises how hard this game will be and he is another who asked us to pass on the importance of patience and backing the team for 90 mins.

One player who I did feel sorry for was wee Nacho who was surrounded by a posse of hacks gave an interview for about 20 mins and looked rather underwhelmed about the whole thing- some of the questions had to be heard to be believed.

Nacho quickly said to us that he loves it at Dundee and all its people especially Dundee Fans.

Again you can read about all this later on in the press but it beats me why u need so many people there circa 40-50 to ask what ammounts to the same questions over and over again.

As one really well known journo said to me - 'you come to these things , write the same words to different scenarios and have a good time meeting people.'

I did however find it facinating to witness the mechanics of news in the making and it it great credit to the general quality of The posters and Editorial input that The Club invited representatives from Dundee Mad to attend.

Its good to be appreciated DSC !"  SAILOR HUNTER
