McCann returns to play for Dundee

Neil McCann will make a surprise return to Dundee in Saturday's First Division match against Raith Rovers - nearly two years since he retired from football.The 36-year-old former Scotland winger trained with Dundee on Friday and is set to be on the bench at Dens Park.

McCann started his career at Dundee before going on to play for Hearts, Rangers, Southampton and Falkirk, whom he left in August 2009.

He has not played since Falkirk's Scottish Cup final defeat in May 2009.

The former Scotland international won 26 caps in his career and became a television football pundit a few months after Falkirk's 1-0 cup final defeat.

He can play in three games for Dundee as a trialist while the club waits to see whether or not the the Scottish Football League will lift the signing embargo placed upon them for going into administration.

Dundee are currently second-bottom of Division One after receiving a 25-point penalty.
