Marr and Connors in Paraguay!

Despite the denials about Francisco Ocampo's connections with Dundee it has been reported on BBC Online that Chairman Jimmy Marr and commercial director Jim Connors are in Paraguay.

Although a Dundee spokesman has categorically denied that they are there to visit Mr. Ocampo, it is known that Fabian Caballero is currently training with his club Sol de America. Ocampo is the agent for both Caballero and Sara.

The official view is that Marr and Connors are viewing players so presumably the Paraguyan league has carried on right through the World Cup??

Recently Mr. Ocampo had stated that two current Paraguayan internationalists, Diego Gavilon and Jorge Campos were available for Dundee, if required.

As neither Jimmy Marr or Jim Connors are known for their scouting experience, being better known as operators in the business field, it would be simply amazing if they were sent to spy on players with the intention of signing them. It would seem more likely that both are there on some other kind of visit and Ocampo may well be the target? Whether with a view to enticing him to Dens as part of some new management team or to ask for more time to pay off the enormous debt Dundee owe him, we can only speculate.

Bonetti is expected to return in time for next week's pre-season training, he would have to or risk being in breach of contract. But that doesn't mean a move to bring in fresh faces is not on the cards before the start of the season proper.

It is widely known that Walter Smith met Jimmy Marr in Broughty Ferry last week, and that Jim Duffy was in town not long before that to meet with Dens officials. The visit to Ocampo's homeland can only widen theories that something is most definitely going on. Until an announcement is made, we fans will just have to be patient and wait. Your guess is as good as mines. Any two from three could be the management team for next season.
