Where were you when Dundee won the Championship?

Well, some young Dee fans were in Port Talbot, Wales preparing to represent Scotland in an U15’s Sunday League Football International against Wales scheduled for Sunday 4th May and organised by the Clubs for Young People (CYP).

The 3rd May 2014 seemed a long way off when the squad was selected in late 2013 and little did they know then what a momentous day they would be missing at Dens.

In the Port Talbot afternoon sunshine that Saturday, the mobiles were fairly buzzing with the latest news from Dens and New Douglas Park with each update ratcheting up the tension. Of course it would never be as exciting (or draining) as being at Dens itself, but the drama of the day certainly travelled to that corner of South Wales and now the boys have their own personal memory of that Championship winning day by holding the trophy itself.

Even though the Welsh team won the match on the Sunday, it was a great experience to be chosen to represent their country and the boys are Logan Irvine (St James U15’s) and Sean Mohan (All Dryburgh Athletic U15’s).

Gary Harkins returned to Dens this morning and was presented to the media at a lunchtime press conference following signing for the club for the third time.

Dundee FC Online were there to speak to Gary and he told us he was, "Happy to be here."

Gary left St. Mirren on Friday and asked what convinced the 29 year old to return to Dens he told us, "I didn't really need much convincing. As soon as I got the phone call there was only one place I wanted to go for this season, and hopefully a few seasons more."

He became the clubs ninth summer signing and he told us he is looking forward to the Premiership season with his new team mates, "It's a really good squad in the dressing room, one that we're looking forward to the season ahead with."

Manager Paul Hartley told us this morning that he was a long term admirer of Gary and asked if the feeling was mutual, Gary explained, "Growing up watching the gaffer at Celtic, I'm a big admirer of how he was as a player and obviously what he has done as a manager you can't argue with, so I'm really looking forward to working under him."

With his signing confirmed, Gary is now looking forward to joining the pre-season training which started on Friday past, he said "Can't wait, it's been a long summer that way so looking forward to getting back to work."
