It seems the story I printed earlier that Gavin Rae was close to a transfer to an Italian team has proved impossible to corroborate at this time.   As was the rumoured fee of close on £2 million.

The source seemed pretty confident that this was about to happen, but so far I have made enquiries and found nothing to back this up.  That does not, however, mean there is no substance to the story.   But without proof it is no more than hearsay so I have withdrawn the article meantime.
