EXCLUSIVE - Lee Wilkie Bank of Scotland Player of the Month For February!

Last updated : 15 March 2003 By Dave Webster
Lee Wilkie has been voted Bank of Scotland Player of the Month for February.

Officially the news won't be released until the Sunday papers carry it, but I can reveal this news in advance.

This Award is voted by a panel of Scotland's top football writers and is a real honour for the 22 year old whose form this season has been nothing short of magnificent.

The Award will certainly be known by Berti Vogts who might feel a bit peeved that only he failed to see the form of Lee Wilkie and left him out of his last Scotland squad.

Lee and Petra - Great Friends
One of the nicest guys you can meet, his manners and courtesy bely the image he gives as a tough, no nonsense central defender.

Ask Petra Ryce, a disabled fan who Lee pops into the Bobby Cox stand before almost every game to have a chat with.

They have a very special friendship and through these meetings I've got to know the big man as well and he really is a gentleman in every way one can be. From him I sometimes find out the team before it's announced and why some players are left out and others selected.

Wearing the dark blue of Dundee he has made a big impact on Scottish football this season and I, for one, have never seen him have a bad game since the turn of the year.   His form has played a large part in the 8 game unbeaten run Dundee have notched up in that time.

Congrats, Lee, all Dees fans will be very proud of this accolade, none more than Petra Ryce, you're a champion in every sense of the word.

In a small website poll on this site Lee was voted our best player so far this season. This latest tribute by the football writers proves it isn't just we Dees who see his talents.

Now, one small request - take us to the top 6. Then, take us further in the Cup. And get back in the Scotland team - they need your kind much more than Mr. Vogts realises at present. Not much to ask from a player with so much passion for the game, and unfulfilled dreams awaiting. Go get 'em, Lee, and take us as close as you can to the Promised Land.
