Dundee beat southend 2.0 yesterday, the dark blues defence and midfield worked hard and by all accounts stiffeled southend to take long range pot shots from distance.

Back at the heart of the dark blues defence was rhys weston after a spell out due to an injury, the dees played three trialist moyes/ and macgregor along with anunamed player who was equally at home on either flank.

O'Donnel ran the show in midfield for dundee and enjoyed a great game, southend started brightly without however threatening the dundee goal, dundee started to claw their way back into the game and when irvine played a long ball jake hyde beat the off side trap and played a great ball into webster who stroked the ball into the net giving the southend goalie no chance.34

into the last 30 mins of the second have saw dundee substitute and re shuffled the team, with bayne replacing young leighton and benedictus replacing webster, southend went close by hitting the post then they stepped up a gear looking for a leveler, however whilst in injury time kyle benedictus collected the ball then chipped the ball into space and chased after it himself,he then carried the ball forward before picking out jake hyde to stepped over the ball for graham bayne to make no mistake and in the process increased dundee's advantage to two goals, shortly after the ref blew for full time
