dundee v east fife (final)

Today saw the dark blues take on east fife in the final of the fifes own tournament.weston.odonnel and irvine were the only recognised first teamers from last season in the starting eleven, barry smith also played from the start with craig mckeown taking over from weston later in the game.

The dees started the better of the two teams however it was the fifers who scored first roughly half way through the first half, this spurred the dees into action with mcintosh swandering a chance when he should have squared the ball and then graham bayne passing up a chance when he had a free header but he could only find the goalkeeper with it.at half time hyde replaced mcintosh and there was a tactical switch when two players changed wings.after the break dundee seemed to lose shape with hyde and bayne struggling to form an understanding with their play, the midfield were suffering the same problem, the defence however was playing as they should.as the game entered its final stages dundee were looking for the equaliser whilst the fifers were content to defend and threaten the dark blues on the counter attack,as it turned out the fifers held out and won their own tournament silver wear
