Dundee v Ayr

The dees welcomed ayr utd to dens for the first home game of the new season.ayr were out to break a 30 year lead around their neck ,yes 30 years is the last time ayr beat the dark blues at dens, they lost their midfielder within the first ten mins, moffat came on and the sub was on the spot to header the ayrshire men in front, however the dees stung themselves into action when riley had a fine shot saved by cuthbert.

On the half hour the dees were level when mcluskey hit the underside of the bar and hyde knocked the ball home.so half time and it was all even .

The second half saw the dees up the ante and only a fine save from the ayr goalie thwarted mcluskey when he pushed his shot around the post.lockwood and then chisholm went close for the dees, leighton mcintosh also had a great effort but dundee were denied again, late on mckeown was in the right place as the ball fell for him at an angle about 14 yards out but his shot hit an ayr player, ayr held out and earned their point,iv seen dundee play a hell of alot better and once again it is evident that harkins is badly missed, hopefully someone inmidfield can find the form to supply the much needed creativity.
