Dundee FC in the community part 2

To date the sessions have had high attendance …as you can imagine an opportunity like this was quickly snapped up by the kids.  On completion of the sessions each child will receive a match day ticket and a small DFC gift as a thank you for attending.

On completion of the Kirriemuir area, DITC plan to expand into further rural areas and hope to help increase Dundee FC’s profile and growing fan base.

Another weekly programme provided by DITC is The Bobby Cox Soccer Centre which involves drop in sessions allowing any child aged from 5-12 years the opportunity to participate in a non competitive environment, where they will be able to relax and enjoy football with no pressure.

The Club and the Community team have thankfully made it through the difficult time of administration and both now seem to be in a stronger place, allowing DITC to offer several new programmes in the form of three Soccer Centres in various locations.

Over the past few years, Saturday mornings at Orchar Park have become the main location for DITC Soccer Centres.  Participants have come and gone, whether it be due to growing too old for the programme or finding a boys club/girls club we are sure they have all had a good time.  The centre serves its purpose of being a grassroots programme to encourage participation in football regardless of age, gender, race or ability.

In the past month or so, the guys have managed to build strong connections with local schools and Active Schools coordinators - gaining access to two new PPP schools.  The community team now deliver a second Saturday morning session at St Andrews primary school; the facilities there include an indoor games hall large enough to accommodate the continuously growing number of participants attending on a weekly basis.  The morning sessions are split into two, P1-P4 children attend from 10am-11am and then P5-S1 children following the young ones.
