It greatly saddens us to hear about the death of ex Dundee, Tottenham & Scotland legendary Goalkeeper Bill Brown who passed away in Canada aged 73. Our thoughts and am I sure those of all football supporters in Dundee are with his family.

I once worked with one of his relatives and Bill always fondly asked about his old club from his home in Canada and a genuine gentleman of the old school.

Bill, who was signed at 17 from Carnoustie Panmure was undoubtedly a Dundee great and made 274 appearances for The Dark Blues between a 1949 and 1959 winning a League Cup Winners medal before moving to the all conquering Tottenham Hotspur for £16500 in 1959 where he was an integral part of the double winning team of the 1960/61 season making 262 appearances in total.

In 1966/67 he moved on to Northampton Town appearing 17 times before emigrating at the end of that season and finishing his playing career with Toronto Falcons.

The first of Bills 28 international caps came Versus France in the 1958 World Cup and his last came in a 1.0 win over Italy at Hampden in 1965.

Bill Brown born Arbroath 8th October 1931 died Canada 30th November 2004 RIP.
