DFCSS Update and Election Notice

Last updated : 28 October 2012 By Shaded

Dear Member,

This year has been another of huge significance for Dundee FC and the first for the Supporters’ Society as majority shareholders in the club. Since funding the CVA in February 2011 to the tune of £150,000, the Society has injected a further £160,000 into Dundee FC and committed to another £50,000 before the end of season 2012/13. Along with cash injections from other groups and individuals, as well as the recently launched DFC 50 scheme, this has provided the reserves to allow the club to operate on a solid financial footing and of course, thanks to a second-placed finish last season, Dundee FC was in a position to accept the SPL’s invitation to rejoin the top flight after a 7-year absence.

Your continued support, financial and otherwise, is essential as we aim for something lacking for many a year – stability – and as we strive to not only provide the manager with the resources he needs on the park, but to plan for the longer term revival of the club and its infrastructure and staff off the park, to elevate us to a sustainable and profitable position as an established Scottish Premier League Club.

Much of this work goes unseen, with Society and Club directors and staff working all hours on a whole host of projects, and as always at this time of year, some of us are tasked with preparing the Society’s annual accounts and reports for our AGM which will take place on Sunday 16th December 2012. A formal notice and agenda will be issued closer to the time.

The start of the process for the AGM is to seek nominations to the Society board. With the additional responsibilities as majority shareholder in Dundee FC, we are keen to find people with not only the right skills and experience, but who are also able to commit the considerable time and energy required to be a director of the Society.

If you would like to be nominated as a candidate, you should complete the nomination form and get it signed by at least three members to propose you as a candidate (you cannot propose yourself, and no member can propose more than one candidate). You can download the form here, collect one from the club shop, Dundee Direct, or request one by writing to Election Management Group c/o Dundee Football Club Ltd., Dens Park Stadium, Sandeman Street, Dundee DD3 7JY orelection@dee4life.com. The EMG can also provide any further guidance you may require, including the rules of the election (which can be downloaded here).

Please note that completed nomination forms must be returned to arrive by 2ndNovember 2012 to the Election Management Group address above. An election will then be held unless there are as many or fewer candidates than eligible positions.

Thanks for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

Yours faithfully,

Elliot Davie

Secretary
