Derby Game Should Be A Real Thriller!

No way will this be a dreary end of the season league fixture. Some say the league goes stale at this time of the year with nothing left to play for.

Both Dundee teams would surely disagree on this one. With Dundee two points clear and only three games to go a win for Dundee would surely wrap things up. If United win there will be one point between the pair. A draw would still see a grand finale in the two remaining games after tomorrow.

Walter Del Rio returns from suspension and could start at Right Back after the wonderful displays by Barry Smith playing alongside Lee Wilkie in the last two games. On the other hand Ivano Bonetti might just stick with young Dave Mackay who certainly hasn't let his side down during that spell either.

Caballero is still injured and will not be in the squad.

It is my belief that this game, from the Dundee viewpoint, hinges on the type of performance Beto Carranza turns on tomorrow. If he hits top form he can turn defences inside out. His only failing at times is his final ball which too often lets him down. If we stand by the five Scots who have played recently they should certainly be up for the battle that will commence at 3.00 tomorrow.

Derbies are not about subtle skills or dainty little touches. They rquire players to enter the game with passion and commitment for the cause. Mackay, Wilkie, Smith, Rae and Milne sometimes lack the subtleties their talented team mates possess, but they will be needed to balance things out.

Roll on Saturday!
