chance to bid on programs

Last updated : 15 November 2011 By Shaded

The Dundee FC Supporters' Society have recently acquired a special collection of framed Dundee FC programmes and would like to offer Dundee fans the first chance to get their hands on them with all proceeds going to the Society.

The first one we have to offer is the 1967 League Cup Semi-Final and Final programmes against St Johnstone and Celtic respectively.  The semi against St Johnstone saw Dundee win 3-1 at Tannadice and, while Dundee lost 5-3 in the Final to the Parkhead side, it was a great occasion for the Club and considered to be one of the greatest finals ever played at the National Stadium.

To get your hands on this special piece of Dundee FC memorabilia simply send your offer via "contact us" to the Society and the highest offer received by 11pm on Monday 21st November will receive these programmes, which can be collected at the home game against Falkirk the following Saturday or by whatever arrangements suit.

Good luck!!

More Boardroom Guests

Last weekend, Scott Glenday was delighted to welcome Arran Hill and Davie Craig as his guests in the Boardroom.

Davie was a founder member of The Maltman DSC and also sits on the Society Supporters Club Sub Committee.  He also helps the Football Club when away from home by taking through and preparing the kit in the visitors changing room.

Arran normally works as a steward in the Main Stand on match days and was having a day off on the back of a reward for a shift he did as a volunteer at the recent ‘It's All About the Memories’ book launch.

Both had a great day, Scott was delighted for them that their visit was topped with a win and said "inviting both lads as my guests was to say a big thanks for quietly taking something on and doing a turn.  We’ve loads of people to thank and it’s going to take a very long time to do so.  Everyone that wants to can do something for our Club and it’s great to see people like Davie and Arran volunteering and giving up some of their time and expertise for the love of the Club they support.  As I’ve said before one of the barometers of success in making this Football Club what we want it to be will be the number of people getting closer, more involved and really feeling part of it."

Davie commented "it was a great day and the result topped it off.  I've been involved with the Supporters' Clubs for a few years now, the Maltman Dark Blues are going strong and this season I've been involved with the half-time challenges too.  Just doing my bit to make sure Dundee fans enjoy games is reward enough for me, but my day in the Boardroom was a wee bit special.  It's brilliant that Scott, Stuart and Maurice can use their Boardroom passes as a way of saying thanks to folk who have helped the Club out and I hope that the next guests enjoy as good a day - and result - as Arran and I did."

We also spoke to Arran, who told us "the Boardroom visit was brilliant and the 3 points was the icing on the cake."  On the book launch, he said "I got in touch with Jacqui Robertson at the start of October to see if they needed a doorman for the night and said that I'd be delighted to do it for free to keep costs down, since the proceeds of the book go to the Society.  I was not expecting anything in return just for helping the Club, so it was a big surprise to be invited along.  The way you are looked after in the Boardroom was beyond my wildest dreams - everyone was so friendly too.  If I hadn't been in the boardroom I would have being stewarding in the main stand, so it was a bit of a change from my normal Saturday!"

Junior Dees Cheque for £1000

As part of the commitment to invest 80% from all bucket collections into the Junior Dees, Dundee FC Supporters’ Society Vice-Chairman George Harris presented a cheque for £1000 to Dundee FC’s Graham James at half time during the game v Partick Thistle a couple of weeks ago.  Bucket collections have, prior to last Saturday, raised just over £1450, which has allowed the Society to make the first investment of £1000 for the season to the Junior Dees.
