big weekend

Last updated : 20 November 2010 By Shaded

Administrator Bryan Jackson praised our efforts this week with the total raised by you and your fellow Dees reaching over £130,000. But that's only half of the target set to be raised by December, so there's no let-up in the fundraising, and we need your continued support.

What a weekend it promises to be with the Club, Dundee FC Supporters' Society Ltd. and Lochee United player and Dundee fan Craig Robertson all pulling out the stops - as well as a host of others who are giving their time and talents to keep you entertained...and maintain the fantastic fund-raising efforts.

First up is Craig Robertson's Testimonial match, when the fanatical Dee will line up for Lochee United against a select from the club who have been his lifelong passion - and while Craig will be doing his best to score against his heroes he'll also be doing more than his bit for the fundraising effort - donating all proceeds for the gate to Dundee FC Supporters' Society Ltd.

Included in the eleven who will line up against Lochee United is Javier Artero, who's traveling from Spain to take part, as well as Miguel Artero, Bobby Geddes, Barry Smith, Bobby Glennie, Tosh McKinlay, Rab Shannon and possibly Andy Dow with a few others yet to confirm.

Kick off is at 2pm and you are asked to arrive early, particularly if paying at the gate - Entrance fees at Thomson Park will be £8 for adults and £2 for OAPs and Under 16’s - tickets are available from the Club shop.

We are also please to offer a hospitality package for the game against Lochee United, hosted at the Park Hotel and consisting of:
    * 2 course meal of Soup and Steak Pie.
    * 5 Drinks tickets.
    * Ticket for match.
    * Match programme.
    * Free ticket for 'Do in the Vu'.

This package is a bargain at just £45, and can be booked by contacting Maurice Kidd on 07789 264027.

Following the Craig Robertson Testimonial, all roads will lead to Deja Vu, where a great evening is in store.

Doors will open at 4pm and admission is £10.

The event will be hosted by diehard 'Dee Charlie Duthie of Wave 102 fame. The famous Mafia will take to the stage at 5pm and will be followed at roughly 50 minute intervals by the one and only Ringer, Isis, Turning Japanese, and The Sons Of Bertie Bassett.

A short break around 9pm will allow the Raffle to be drawn and a couple of rousing speeches to be made by some of our guests, before the fantastic and reformed for one night only Jump The Q take to the stage.

Bobby Brady and the lads have been practising long and hard for the event, dusting down the back catalogue including a few Dundee FC classics, and will take us through to a not to be missed Grand Finale at 10.15pm.

The stage will have to be cleared at 10.30p.m. to allow the Nightclub to take over, however anyone who wishes, is welcome to stay on at no further cost.

Thanks to all the performers for giving of their time freely.
Special thanks to Les Egan and Mafia for supplying the equipment.

We hope to see a terrific turnout for a great event with all funds going into the DFCSS 'DEE-FIANT' fund.

..AND THE WEEKEND DOESN'T FINISH THERE - because on Sunday evening there's a great Sportsmans' Dinner at The Hilton Hotel to raise funds for the club,
with Tam Cowan, Gordon Smith, and Bill McMurdo.
The Hilton Hotel, Dundee. 7pm for 7.30pm kick off.
2 course meal - all for just £25.

There are still a couple of tables remaining. Smaller parties will also be catered for.

Why not top off a great Dee Weekend and let yourself be entertained by 3 of the biggest names in Scottish Football.
