and more talented individual players but...in 40 years of supporting Dundee I have never seen a team like this. A team so full of desire, will to win, grit, determination, character and no little skill. Saturday just summed this team up. Didn't play well and looked to be heading for defeat to a team that didn't look top of the table material but were strong and didn't give much away. I must admit that with 10 minutes to go I would have bitten your hand off for a point and when it duly arrived from a special free kick I and, I suspect, thousands of other Dundee fans would happily have heard the refs whistle blow there and then. Not this team though. Sheer will to win and refusal to give up carried them on and as we grew stronger in the game I think the fans started to believe that we could get more out of this than a point. Obviously it arrived in fairytale fashion but it was no accident. I have watched some better Dundee teams who would have happily settled for a point on Saturday but when you see this team in action you sometimes wonder what a bit more effort and will to win by those other DFC teams would have achieved. This team has been driving us on for months now and I have never ever felt prouder to be a Dundee fan than right now. When I left the Cowdenbeath game in September it was one of the worst feelings I can ever remember watching Dundee. When Admin followed soon after it was the stuff of nightmares. Yet 4 months or so later I have been entertained, gripped and excited by watching this team. If Smithy doesn't get manager of the year something is wrong.

As I say I have supported Dundee for 40 years and I don't remember any Dundee team, in my time, going on a 14 game unbeaten run ( especially with so many wins in that run). Maybe they did - I just can't remember it. Tell you what though. I will remember this run until the day I die. I genuinely believe that to avoid relegation this season would be the single best achievement by any side in Dundee FC history with the exception of the league winning team in 1962 and reaching the European Cup semi the following season. Better than any cup success and lower league success. I truly believe that. I don't think you can underestimate what this team has achieved so far and these guys have the ability to achieve legendary status in DFC's history. The fact that all this has been achieved with the bare minimum of players is even more incredible. I think we have had some luck along the way ( very few injuries and suspensions so far) but surely we have deserved that! There have been a few players who receive stick from time to time, some of it deserved and some not, but to a man every one has played their part and contributed in some way. Hopefully the players realise what they mean to us because this team means a helluva lot. With the fantastic manager we have in place lets take our place in history, manager, players and fans alike.

Never been prouder!
