Last updated : 05 February 2011 By DSG

Sean Higgins' late strike gave Dundee a much-needed 2-1 victory over Queen of the South to move them off the bottom of the table.

Craig Forsyth put Dundee ahead after 35 minutes when he latched onto a pass from Gary Harkins to beat David Hutton from 12 yards and almost doubled their advantage after 56 minutes but his shot cannoned back off the post.

Ryan McGuffie equalised for fourth-placed Queen of the South on the hour mark when he headed in William McLaren's cross from close range.

But Higgins secured a vital three points for Dundee 13 minutes from time when he fired into the top corner from 12 yards.

The win extends Dundee's unbeaten run to three league games.
