Dundee collected a valuable three points this afternoon to just about keep their very slim promotions hopes alive.

Dundee went one up after eight minutes when young striker Bryan Deasley volleyed home from 10 yards on his first home start.

Stranraer's Willie Martin should have done better when he failed to hit the target with a header from five yards midway through the first half.

Stranraer were gifted an equaliser after 28 minutes when Paul Dixon jumped for the ball with his own keeper, resulting in the ball spilling behind them both to give Paul Walker the simple task of knocking it into the empty net.

Dundee's Simon Lynch missed a golden chance as half-time approached when he blazed his right-foot shot over the bar from six yards.

Martin was unlucky five minutes into the second half when his right-foot shot crashed against the base of the post before being thumped clear with the Dundee keeper well beaten.

Stephen Payne saw his shot from 12 yards well saved by Scott Murray in the Dundee goal after 66 minutes.

A minute later Dundee went back in front when Kevin McDonald cut in from the right and played the ball to Lynch who, from five yards, beat Barry-John Corr with a low shot just inside the post.
