Stranraer recorded their first ever point at Dens Park with a battling draw, with both teams able to claim that they had come close to recording a victory.

The first half was largely a tale of Stranraer organisation which kept Dundee at bay.

But the south west men silenced Dens Park when they took a shock lead in the 50th minute. Michael Moore proved more alert than the home defence when he rose and glanced Lee Sharp's corner past Derek Soutar.

For much of the remainder of the game Dundee laid siege to the visitors' goal, but they found Stranraer's defence in uncompromising form.

Then visiting keeper Barry-John Corr produced heroics when he dived and turned Tom McManus' 75th-minute penalty to safety.

It was all the more galling for the home fans as midfielder Scott Robertson seemed to have the ball in the visitors' net before referee Colin Hardy brought proceedings to a halt, disallowing a goal and awarding the fruitless spot-kick.

But Dundee finally got the point they deserved when substitute Andy Ferguson turned the ball home at the near post from one of a string of McManus corners with six minutes remaining.
