Dundee 1-1 Partick- Match Report

Late Kane Hemmings effort earns point for DundeeA late strike from substitute Kane Hemmings gave Dundee a share of the spoils as they foiled Partick in their Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Dens Park.Hemmings earned Paul Hartley's side a battling draw by equalising in the 85th minute after second-bottom Thistle had taken a fifth-minute lead through young defender Liam Lindsay.Alan Archibald's Partick looked like holding out for victory until Hemmings' fifth goal of the season so far meant it finished in a stalemate.Dundee were unchanged from the side which had drawn 1-1 away to Inverness the previous week. For Thistle, experienced keeper Paul Gallacher replaced Ryan Scully between the sticks following his red card in their 4-0 defeat by Hearts the week before, while Kris Doolan came in for Mathias Pogba.Dundee began well and on-loan Cardiff striker Rhys Healey surged forward by cutting away from Abdul Osman, before unleashing a shot from 22 yards which brought out a fine save from Gallacher, who showed his reflexes are still sharp enough for the top-flight.But it was Thistle who went into an early lead.Stuart Bannigan's in-swinging corner was left by the entire Dundee defence and Lindsay rose unchallenged to send a downward header past home keeper Scott Bain.Dundee were struggling to find any sort of rhythm, although Rory Loy, in the 12th minute, saw his left-footed effort swerve in mid-air but again Gallacher was equal to the task as he parried it away for a corner.Healey soon after cut the ball back inside the box for Paul McGowan, but the Dundee captain's shot was blocked by Gallacher's legs.Thistle ought to have increased their lead after 39 minutes

Mustapha Dumbuya picked up possession after Greg Stewart had uncharacteristically given it away, and slid a defence-splitting pass forward to David Amoo.Amoo's cross into the middle seemed perfect for Doolan but the striker got the ball caught under his feet, leaving Bain to gather and prevent the Jags from going 2-0 in front heading into half-time.Dundee couldn't be any worse after the break and they threatened to level after 50 minutes, with substitute Hemmings setting up McGowan, but his shot was easily saved by Gallacher.Stewart was next to try his luck as the hour mark approached but again Gallacher dealt with his shot by punching it away to safety. At the other end, Thistle substitute Gary Fraser hit a shot from 25 yards which Bain was happy to tip over the bar at the expense of a corner. Then Fraser's free-kick after 78 minutes picked out Lindsay who headed just wide. But in the 85th minute, Hemmings levelled for the Dark Blues by running onto McGowan's through pass and planting a shot beyond Gallacher from 10 yards
