Dundee 1-1 Kilmarnock- Match Report

Dundee draw again as Kilmarnock hold firm

Dundee remain without a home win in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership as they were held to a third consecutive draw by Kilmarnock.

Paul Hartley's side raced into an early lead through Faissal El Bakhtaoui after seven minutes before Souleymane Coulibaly's stunning overhead equaliser on 32 minutes levelled matters.

The Dark Blues were forced to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men after French defender Kevin Gomis was shown a straight red card for a rash tackle on substitute Charlee Adams as their Dens Park hoodoo continues this season.

Dundee made two changes from the side which had drawn away to Motherwell before the international break.

On-loan Celtic attacker Michael Duffy and Danny Williams dropped out so in came Craig Wighton and new signing Tom Hateley.

But it was the visitors who began brightly and, four minutes in, captain Steven Smith flighted a free-kick into the box and Kris Boyd's header was gathered by home goalkeeper Scott Bain.

Three minutes later Dundee took the lead in simple fashion.

Hateley took advantage of a dead-ball situation and his low free-kick eluded the entire Killie defence to allow El Bakhtaoui to make it 1-0 with a neat finish from inside the six-yard box.

It was the Frenchman's first goal since signing in the summer and gave the hosts some an early lift.

There was not much more goalmouth action until almost the half-hour mark when Luke Hendrie's cross was met by Boyd, but the striker's volley went just wide of the post.

However, Killie equalised in some style just after the half-hour mark.

Adam Frizzell's deep cross from the right picked out Coulibaly and he spectacularly sent an overhead kick back across Bain and into the net from 12 yards.

Dundee attempted to regain the lead and just before half-time, Kevin Holt saw his drive go inches over Jamie MacDonald's crossbar.

Soon after the restart, Wighton was put clean through on goal by Paul McGowan only to see his shot saved by MacDonald, and the Killie keeper also thwarted him from the rebound.

The home side remained on top with El Bakhtaoui unleashing a drive from outside the box which flew past MacDonald's post.

Then after 82 minutes, Dundee centre-back Gomis was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Killie substitute Adams who had to be taken off on a stretcher.

Despite their best efforts to force a winner late on, Dundee had to settle for another share of the spoils.
