Dundee 1-1 Aberdeen- Match Report

Rooney rescues draw for DonsDundee were denied a return to winning ways as Adam Rooney's injury-time equaliser gave Aberdeen a 1-1 Scottish Premiership draw at Dens Park.Luka Tankulic's opener a minute before half-time looked like giving Paul Hartley's side their first victory since early April. But substitute Rooney popped up to level in the dying seconds to give Derek McInnes' men a share of the spoils. It was a slow start but on 14 minutes Dundee's Greg Stewart tried to spark things into life when he went on a run and unleashed a shot with his right foot that sailed just past Aberdeen keeper Scott Brown's right-hand post.David Goodwillie was buzzing around up front for the visitors and he attempetd to latch on to Peter Pawlett's through pass on 18 minutes but there was just too much pace on the ball and the chance went a-begging.Soon after, Pawlett dispossessed Calvin Colquhoun and wasted no time in firing in a shot which home keeper Kyle Letheren did well to punch away. From the rebound, Cammy Smith hit a shot which Letheren saved and he was defied yet again by the Dundee keeper who pulled off an acrobatic save to tip the ball over the top at the expense of a corner.Aberdeen were on top and Pawlett released Smith down the right and he crossed into the middle for captain Johnny Hayes, but his effort was deflected wide.On 25 minutes, Aberdeen ought to have taken the lead.Shay Logan's deep cross picked out Goodwillie all alone at the far post but he did not get control of his header and lifted it way over the bar.At the other end, Tankulic threatened for the home team by shooting from 15 yards but Dons keeper Brown turned it away for a corner.Aberdeen still looked the likelier side to go ahead thugh, but Barry Robson's long-range effort on 34 minutes was way off target.Five minutes before half-time, Andy Considine tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the box, but again Letheren was equal to the task. However, against the run of play Dundee took the lead on 44 minutes.Jim McAlister beat Donervon Daniels to a high ball, and headed it into the path of Tankulic. With just Brown to beat, Tankulic rounded the Dons keeper before placing the ball into the empty net.Dundee started the second half by putting Stephen McGinn on for McAlister. However, Letheren saved them yet again on 57 minutes when Barry Robson's low drive was heading for the bottom corner, only for the Welshman to tip his effort wide.Aberdeen introduced Rooney on the hour mark in place of Lawrence Shankland to try to find an equaliser. But Dundee were much sharper than in the first half and were denying their opponents the space they were getting before.Paul McGowan had a chance to make it 2-0 only to shoot over in 87 minutes. Then, with almost the last kick of the ball, Rooney slotted home from close range after Ash Taylor's header from Robson's corner was not properly cleared
