McLaughlin makes his mark

Mark McLaughlin's strike midway through the second half was enough to secure Hamilton a narrow 1-0 victory at Dundee.

The hosts threatened early on and only Tomas Cerny's outstretched fingertips denied Steven Milne a spectacular goal after half-an-hour, as the goalkeeper produced a fine save.

Dundee, still looking for their first home win of the season, should have led early in the second half, but Stephen O'Donnell could only fire against the post from close range.

Hamilton took advantage of their opponents' wastefulness after 66 minutes when McLaughlin got on the end of a Martin Canning header to put his side ahead.

Dundee mounted a spell of late pressure, but it came to nothing, leaving the Dens Park club bottom of the table.
