THE DUNDEE FC WHISKY SOCIETY

Inaugural Meeting: Thursday 13th March 2014. Venue: The Fort Hotel, Broughty Ferry. 7pm - 8.45pm

Dundee Football Club are delighted to announce that due to popular demand, an Official Whisky appreciation society is to be launched which will allow our supporters to join together at quarterly events to explore and compare our national drink dram by dram.

This will include 2 trips per year to Whisky distilleries, the first of which will be to the Royal Lochnagar Distillery. One of the jewels in the Royal Deeside crown, it is situated beside her Majesty the Queen's Scottish Home, Balmoral Castle at Crathie half way between the villages of Ballater and Braemar, which is home to the world famous Highland Gathering and Games.

Members of our Whisky Society - which is kindly sponsored by our Official Partner The Fort Hotel - will also have the first opportunity to taste and buy limited edition Whisky's exclusive to Dundee Football Club.

The eagerly awaited Gillie's Goal Highland Single malt will also be available to sample and to buy for the first time on the night. Limited to just 169 bottles - one for every goal Alan Gilzean scored whilst playing for Dundee Football Club - The Club expect demand for this to be high. Each bottle comes with an individual certificate which describes the goal scored in relation to the numbered bottle.

Bottle number 1 was presented to Alan Gilzean in December 2013 when he was inducted in to the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame at White Hart Lane, and bottle number 169 was gifted to Spurs, symbolising the last goal he scored in Dark Blue before moving to become 'The King of White Hart Lane' in 1964.

Tickets for this event are priced at a special introductory price of just £5 which include a dram of the Gillie's Goals Highland Single Malt Whisky, a dram of Dalmore Dee - part of the Damlore Rivers collection -, and stovies and oatcakes.

Manager Paul Hartley and other Club staff and Directors will also be in attendance to meet those attending this event.

Those attending will also have the opportunity to watch the full game of when Liverpool came to Dens for George McGeachie's testimonial in October 1987. The film was held by the late John Black, mine host of The Fort Hotel and a Director of Dundee Football Club for many years.

Supporters should note that this event is admissible by Ticket only.

Tickets on sale now and can be bought either at the Dundee FC Ticket Office located at Dens Park, by phone on 01382889966 (Option 1) or at The Fort Hotel. Tickets are limited and strictly on a first come first serve basis.

Membership to the Dundee FC Whisky Society will be available on the night for a reduced price of £25, which will include a £10 voucher which can be redeemed against a bottle of Gillie's Goals whisky.
