Dundee travelled to Greenock on Saturday to entertain Morton in what appeared on paper as an extremely difficult fixture.the dees went into the game with four draws and a defeat in their last 5 games.

The dees were anxious to maintain their form that saw them go 23 games unbeaten, and the dark blues couldn't have asked for a better start when they went ahead in six mins, matt lockwood swung over a cross from the left and young leighton mackintosh timed his run expertly arriving bang on queue to bullet a header past the morton goal keeper from eight yards out.The dees almost went further ahead in 21 mins when mckeowns cross from the left was hooked on target by gary harkins but the keeper got down well to make a great save.about ten mins later harkins again brought a great save from the morton keeper.

The game then exploded when young kyle appeared to trip former dee obrien in the box when he was clean through on goal, however the ref proceeded to book the former dee for diving.the play then stopped for a while whilst the morton manager was told off by the ref.

Three mins later and harkins was in no mood to be denied by the morton goalie as he controlled the ball on the edge of the box before leaving the keeper with no chance with a sensationall chip,an asolute stunner of a goal.

Into the second half and morton reduced the deficit on the 65 min mark whenobrien drilled the ball past big rab from 12 yards, this inspired the dees once more and in 75 mins young leighton sealed the game and scored his second after chasing down a long ball hewas one on one with the keeper, the goalie did well to stop his first effort but as the ball came back to the youngster he made no mistake from six yards. All in all a very good 3 points for the dees espically when the other scores came through meaning the dark blues are now 1 point away from safety.
