Dundee v Ross County

Saturday i headed up to dens full of optimism,a quick stop at the pie stall for a bovril, then down to my seat expecting to see the dee's,come out the blocks attacking from the off.

Instead i saw a very lack luster performance from the dark blues for the full 90 minutes, infact i only recall us troubling the Ross County keeper on one occasion, just not good enough when you are paying £19 to watch the game.

The highlight of the first half was when Gary Harkins rattled the woodwork from a free kick and mcmenamin realy should have scored with a good header, which resulted in three or four dundee shots being blocked in the resulting scramble in the six yard box.Special mention goes to big Rab who had a tremendous double save, which in itself showed why he has played for Scotland.

The second half saw Weston coming on and dundee looking solid at the back,Weston has the look of a very good player at this level with his no nonsense type of defending,if he is in doubt he puts it out, which is afterall the first lesson you learn being a defender.

In fairness we could not have argued with being on the wrong side of a 5.2 defeat, and we are desperatley in need of a good winger and a good box to box midfielder, but players who fall into this category are few and far between.

I hate to say this but if we dont get a couple of players in to fit the bill then we will end up mid table, and the teams displays so far this season have not been of the attack attack variety that older fans like myself were brought up on many years ago.

Special mention goes to our new left back(lockwood) who indeed looked the part and deserved his man of the match award, his signing has hopefully meant we are now covered in the left back position, and Chisholm can now concentrate his search for new players that we desperatly need.I will agree that three games into the new season is too early to panic but the warning signs are there for all to see im afraid. All in all a very frustrating 90 minutes.
