Young Dee 3-0 Violet
Feature by Dundee Mad

And Griffiths gets a goal....

A young Dundee side won 3-0 at Glenesk tonight in the driving rain.

Violet had the better of a tetchy first half but early in the 2nd a 30 yrd drive into the keepers top left hand corner from Smith settled the young Dee who took control from then on in.

Leigh Griffiths played over an hour and scored with a lovely finish after being set free on the right hand wing. As he cut inside on his own the keeper came out and invited the lob. LG duly obliged with the left foot and it landed perfectly in the centre of the goal.
The opinion of the Dundee Mad team in attendance was that it was a classy finish but there was a young lady from Bathgate there who reckoned it was a cross that was mishit and landed in the goal by accident......

The 3rd goal was a low drive that appeared to take a deflection on the way in.

All in all a good work out for the youngsters on a dismal night with a good showing from one or two of the youngsters on show. No 4. (Rennie?) started well in the middle and also showed up well at right back, No 6 (Etchels?) looked assured at the back and all of the young lads stood up well to some of the Violet players who looked a good bit bigger and stronger.

Leigh Griffiths got a few yards in his legs and was often off and running looking for the pass that will surely come in first team games.

Hopefully that'll be the first of many goals in the Dark Blue, though tonight it was in White.
