BONETTI DIARIES July 5th ,2008 Arrivederci , Maddies - Movano Bonetti here, just returned from stalking the Dees at their Mediterranean pre season training camp in Malta. Rayne Farrell's boys seemed to have a ball - and so did I. I booked a penthouse suite on the ground floor of the best hotel on the island, the Black Hole of Valletta , located in the picturesque coastal spot known as Point Being - only £5 per day for bed and breakfast, evening meal . Hot and cold running water on tap (and down the walls). Marvellous. My travel rep looked like a cross between one of the Kray brothers and the other Kray brother. Now I know what they mean by Rough Guide to travelling in Europe. Anyways, no matter , the boys done good against local heroes Birkirkara who have been drawn in the (Runners Up and ) Champions League against the Schizophrenics from Croatia, so a no score draw against them was fantastico. The 3 troilists ( 2 were playing while the other watched from the sidelines) showed up well - that wizened veteran Jim Laughlan showed that you can be slow and have shite ball control while the Dutch forward was like lightning (the odd flash but it didn't last) - incidentally, he turned out to be the cousin of Arjen Robbin, namely Vender Red Red Robbin. The home side also had a few troilists turning out for them, but they were very poor, quickly earning the nicknames the Bozos from Gozo. Too many Jimmy Foreigners in their team, if you ask me. Before the Dundee lads got the plane back to Dundee International Airport, they got to visit the capital Valetta - Brian Deasley thought that was where Maltese drivers got their cars cleaned but he was sorely disappointed. Even worse was to follow when the squad visited a topless beach, only to find out that it had no sand. Its terrible when people are ecumenical with the truth. Anyways, I can't wait for the new season to start. Roll on the mighty Ross County and the silky skills of Airdrie United. See you soon , Ciao, Benny. Movano. .
