Moving Forward Together

There's been a lot of postings on the messageboard lately from people who are clearly dissaffected by the way things are run at Dens Park. Loads of talk. Loads of bluster. Loads of inaction.

The vast majority of the supporters of Dundee FC do not read the messageboards. Or visit the Dundee Mad website. That is fact.

Here at Dundee Mad we believe that the way forward is a fans club, run by and for the benefit of the supporters of Dundee Football Club. This is not likely to happen overnight. It will be a long slow process.

We also believe that radical protest, of the stand outside Dens waving banners variety, is premature. At this time it would serve little purpose.

Dee4Life have so far done a tremendous job of fundraising and getting into a position where they are the recognised voice of the fans. Dee4Life are the way forward. What we must do now as fans of this great football club is take the bull by the horns and begin the process of lobbying for change, not through writing Marrs Out on a bedsheet but by writing to various bodies about our concerns and by talking to the wider Dee support. Grow a strong base of support among Dees, many of whom have no idea whats going on now or whats gone on in the past.

There are a number of places you can contact as individuals not the least of which is Dee4Life itself. Contact Dee4life by writing an email to admin@dee4life.org or trust@dee4life.org. Ask why the minutes of meetings have not been put on the website for a year. Ask why there is continued silence about the long term plans. Ask why the voice of the fans is not heard. Dee4Life is YOUR Trust. Visit the Trust website at www.dee4life.org and read about what they are doing. The committee must do what we ask them to do and what we mandate them to do. Dee4Life are not the enemy they are our friends. They are as Dark Blue as you can get, after all look at the hours and sacrifices they have made since formation.

Use the official site forum to air your opinions. Make your point in a non aggresive manner and it will get on. If it doesn't then kick up a holy row. Don't write on our messageboard that it didn't get on, email the site editor directly at dundeefconline@hotmail.com . Ask why not.

Use the old fashioned method to find a wider audience, write with pen and ink to the letters pages of the Telegraph and the Courier. Dundonians read those religiously. You can find out how at www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk and www.thecourier.co.uk .

Speak to your local Supporters Club members. Get them to become active and do the same things you're doing. Discuss the issues over a pint but don't go home and forget about it. Do something. Anything.

Go along and ask Peter Marr your questions. He will be facing the fans once more and he gets an easy ride every time. It may be that Peter Marr can convince you that the best way forward is through him. He may not. You may be able to convince him his time is up. You may not. Either way what on earth do you have to lose? Absolutely nothing.
If you can't / do not want to ask Peter Mar directly for whatever reason then send your questions in to Dee4Life. They have pledged to ask for you.

Dundee Football Club is your football club. There is a published customer charter. Download it, read it and challenge the club whenever you are not getting what it pledges. You can get it at the following web address.

www.thedees.co.uk/downloads/customer_charter_2004_2005.pdf

Dee4Life has a constitution. Again, read it and make sure we are getting what it says. Its YOUR Trust. Help them. You can get a copy by asking Dee4Life directly or emailing us here at dundeemad@ntlworld.com and we will forward a copy to you.

The time for moaning and whining on messageboards has passed. Its time to follow up with actions, with direction and with a long term plan.

Here at Dundee Mad we believe that the club should be 100% in the fans ownership. There are many hurdles to overcome before this can be a reality but we can achieve it, together. Dee4Life is the way forward to achieving this, after all the Trust is already a major shareholder. Lets act together cohesively and get what we want. 100% fans ownership.

A Dundee Football Club we can all be proud of.
