Giovanni Di Stefano Q&A's Part 1

Last updated : 21 November 2004 By Dundee Mad Admin
The response to the opportunity to ask questions of Giovanni Di Stefano has been very good so we are going to put the Q&A's up in bits at a time in the order the questions were asked.

Thanks very much to Giovanni for taking the time to answer the questions from Rome this weekend.

To all lurking journalists all the questions and answers are copywrite of Dundee Mad and may not be reproduced in whole or part without express written permission from the editor. A donation to Dee4Life will be required before such permission is even considered.

Here we go:-

Q Mr Di Stefano, there is only one way Dundee fans would believe you were interested in investing money into the club, and that is to put the money up front. Would you be prepared to do this if certain siblings were to leave the club? Question from WEAREDUNDEE

A I have put money up front before and can do again but only when I know it wont go into a bottomless snake pit! G

Q Most Dee fans think your full o BS. Convince us that your good for DFC ! Do something constructive, something that us Dee fans will sit up & say YES Gio would be good for our club. Just now no one belives you, most people think your full of piss & wind, just another fly guy. If you could do something, help the Dee in some way I would support you no matter what the west coast press say, the daily ranger has been on our case since your name has been mentioned with DFC, I would love to turn round and say GIRUY.
Sorry for being honest Gio. Ok No i'm not, I will understand Dundee mad not puting forward this question as maybe they dont want to upset you but you will go up in my estimation if you do. Question from RUBBLE

A You must be crazy if you think that ANYONE would invest 26m into a bankrupt club with an aggressive bank and loads of other problems which noone cared to resolve. Had i not stepped in on August 2003 the club would have gone into liquidation in August 2003 and it was me that at least allowed it life by guaranteeing (AND PAYING) the tax bill from 2002. So equally honest answer I think lots of fans of Dundee are misinformed and as such ask questions that are also full of bull..... and it makes me quite angry when I was the only person with Jim Connor who really tried. TheAdministration has cost Dundee far more than it could imagine. G

Q Gio's Aircraft carrier. Does it use diesel or 4 star? Question from JamRoss

A We never found out because it was sold for scrap at a considerable P R O F I T !!!!!!

Q 1. I have read with interest comments that GDS would get involved with fans
support, given the media campaign against him that may be difficult furthermore
he is a business man and would surely seek to run DFC as a business rather than
waste money on a hobby. Could he give a brief overview as to how he believes he
could make DFC a more sustainable business both during his tenure and to stand
the club in good stead for the future?

Q 2. Is he actively planning an involvement in DFC, or is he just an interested
observer at this time? Questions from HuddersfieldDee

A Dundee is not an easy ride. It still carries a considerable debt and is a LONG TERM investment not short term. It can be done. look at Sheffield Wednesday. the last sleeping giant. Despite its on the field position it has 20/26 thousand fans at home games! Dundee can, under the right conditions, be equal to a sleeping giant. But we have to clear the decks first and one or two seasons of rebuilding the team. G

Q Gio can I ask you-why did you give so much promises to us but failed to deliver them?We had so much faith in you and you left us in the lurch and you were never to be seen again-until now-why was this? Anonymous

A I never left. The Marr Brothers stated that if I was no longer a director they had lots of investors waiting to invest but the condition was that I had to resign. I knew then it was rubbish and pure mendacity but in order to give a fair chance in the unlikely event it was true I resigned as did Jim Connor. The rest speaks for itself. No investors. There never were. Who would want a 26m debts and an aggressive bank. GDS

Q Most Dundee fans want the Marrs out, are you going to buy Dundee or just be a director like before? and if you do take over are you taking any precautions with financal structure? Question from BDKMATTHEW

A People want Peter Marr out! He has actually done a lot of good for Dundee and has the right intentions but has not had the right partner until I came along and then he sold himself to Bank of Scotland to save his other business interests at the cost of the quality of Dundee BUT he did save Dundee and it MUST be recognised. G

Q   Have you approached the current board about investing in Dundee within the last 3 months, if so what reaction did you get.?

Would a prerequisite of you getting involved require the Marrs to cut all ties.?

Could you share power with D4L.?

Who do you have in mind to run the club on a day to day basis.?

The Bank of Scotland have stitched us up before .....Do you have alternative banking facilities in place if you proceed.?

What do you think your personal investment would be .?

When are you going to make your move?     Questions from MilitantDee

A     Bank of Scotland would have no relationship with Dundee FC. New banking facilities are in hand, have been in hand since last year and remain in hand.

Re day to day control, its a possibility but through a director.

D4L have a part to play although how strong that part would be is yet to be considered. But supporters on the board is a must for my part.

Peter Marr, whatever can be said, MUST be thanked for saving Dundee in its time of need. He has made errors, so have I and so have we all but his intentions were honourable. He has been badly advised and badly influenced by the bank.

Q    Firstly to get the fans on your side you do not have to invest 26 million as you think.  Why not make a one of donation to Dee4life for a fee dont know what you could afford but say 100k this would certainly get the supporters on your side.

Secondly what happend to the money for paying Ravenelli and Burleys wages?  Did you pay this?

and lastly Would you be signing any players for us in the summer maybe try and get James McFadden on loan for us or somthing similar if you were to be involved with the club?    Questions from James

A     Since rav and burley got fired by the administrator there was not any requirement for them to be paid. ravanelli is still my client!
