Billy Steel had a reputation as a hard man to get on with, what are your memories of him? 9)DC answer.Billy didn't suffer fools, but his bark was worse than his bite. 10)dee mad? you were part of a team that won two l/cups and r/up in the s/cup,do you feel they realised their potential,or do you think they should have won more? 10)DC answer.perhaps we could have done more, but at least we brought some enjoyment to our supporters during that period. 11)dee mad?would it be right to say that when Wullie Thornton took over from George Anderson, that you didn't like the style of football that he wanted the team to play?if so what were the differencesbetween them 11)DC answer.George Anderson insisted we played good attractive, attacking football.Willie Thornton had us play a more cautious approach to the game. 12)dee mad?who were the best opposition players you played against?both for dundee and scotland? 12)DC answer.at centre-half,i found Lawrie Reilly to be a difficult opponent.Lawrie gave his all,and you had to watch him for the full 90 mins.remember "last minute" Reilly. for scotland i found the "gentle giant" John Charles the one who gave me a few problems and his heading ability made him a handful. 13)dee mad? you had a spell in management at Raith, but didn't continue after that.did you not enjoy management? 13)DC answer.i enjoyed the experience at Raith, but it was not for me.to be a good manager you need good players 14)dee mad? do you still look for dfc's results and which players in dark blue since your era have paticularly impressed you? 14)DC answer.i still look out for Dundee's results, and im sorry to see they missed out on promotion, Dundee FC have the ground and the potential support to be in the spl.as i havn't been to dens for years i can't very well pay tribute to any players, but according to reports the boy Mcdonald seems to have a bright future. 15)dee mad?you ended up scouting for dufc.how did that come about? 15)DC answer.a simple phone call from Jim Mclean led me to start scouting for united, and it lasted over 20years 16)dee mad?in your scouting roll which players did you spot who went on to have a proffesional career 16)DC answer,i was partly responsible for players like Ralph Milne,Ray Mckinnon,Craig Brewster,Christian Dailly,Jimmy Henry and many others who made it at a lower level.
