Dee4Life Statement

Last updated : 03 October 2007 By Dee4Life

Dundee FC fans organization Dee4Life Trust today confirmed reports that they had recently handed over the last of the £152,000 required to secure another 21% shareholding in the Club. This latest investment takes the total cash sum the fans have generated for the Club to around £400,000 - a fantastic achievement given it has been in existence for less than four years. The latest investment will see the Trust retain a 26% stake in the revitalised Club.

The sum raised by the fans during last year's URE Dundee campaign was recently boosted as promised by way of a £30,000 donation from Gretna supremo Brooks Mileson, a generous gesture those on the Trust Board were very grateful of.

A statement today issued by Dee4Life read -

The size of the latest sum we have invested on behalf of the fans is a testament to the commitment shown by the supporters. We are very grateful to everyone who has made this possible including Brooks Mileson who true to his word assisted us greatly.

There is a strong belief that the Club is in safe hands and heading in the right direction both on and off the park. We are absolutely delighted at the progress the Club has made since the dark days of administration.

Our team has made a solid start to this season and held their own against a strong Celtic team as recently as last week. Off the park the threat to the Clubs existence appears to have diminished and the hard work of the Club Board and everyone backing them is paying real dividends.

There is a strong belief that this season we stand a better chance than ever of making a return to the SPL, and we're sure that if Dundee do gain promotion, with a little more investment the manager will be able to build again on the significant progress he has made to date.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has rallied round to make this recovery possible. The odds stacked against our survival were long, but against those odds Chairman Bobby Brannan's plan for survival has provided our Club with not only a lifeline but also the opportunity to make a return to the big time in a much healthier financial state than anyone could ever have imagined.

We've a very decent team on the park and in the stands there is a real sense of expectation. The fans at this Club have played a very significant part in the Clubs recovery; it's something we should all be very proud of. This is still a very proud club with a great history and thankfully a bright future'.

The Trust also announced the date of their AGM - Saturday 8th December 2007, they intend again to write to every member and again invite nominations for election to the Trust Board.
