MANAGER- ALAN KERNAGHAN
Alan Kernaghan began his playing career as an apprentice at Middlesborough, a club he went on to make 212 appearances for in a 10 year period, scoring 16 goals.
He was then signed for Manchester City by then boss Brian Horton in September 1993, where he did well in his first 2 seasons. However, he began to lose his way, turning in some poor perfomances. Alan was shipped out on loan to Bradford in 1995 then St. Johntsone in 1997.

The Saints then signed him on a permanent deal in 1998 after he was given a free transfer from Man City and he enjoyed 4 years at McDairmid, making 71 appearances and scoring 6 goals.

Alan then joined Brechin, but his spell there was short as he made only 3 competitive appearances for the Glebe Park club.

Kernaghan then moved to Clyde, where he started as a player but was then promoted to a player/manager role as recent as the 2003/04 season. He guided Clyde to a second place finish in the 1st Division behind Inverness Caley Thistle, a division which they led for the majority of the season. Alan made 72 appearances for Clyde as a player, scoring 3 goals.

His next move was to Livingston as assistant manager to then manager Allan Preston. Kernaghan was on a player/assistant manager role at the club, he made 5 first team appearances for Livi but he was sacked alongside manager Preston after a poor run of results.

Alan Kernaghan's most recent move before his appointment as manager at Dundee was to Falkirk where he took up a player/coach role. Kernaghan made 9 appearances for Falkirk but left the club on Friday, 2nd September to take up the role as manager of Dundee FC.

Alan comes to the club with an impressive CV as both a player and his different positions in higher roles. His success at Clyde is encouraging as Dundee aim to achieve promotion from the 1st Division to the SPL and many would say he has a stronger squad to work with than he did during his time at Clyde.
