"After The Match, The Game Begins" is a new book that will be out in June with local interest.

Amazon describes it as follows:-

""After The Match, The Game Begins" is the story of how two childhood mates grew up literally either side of the two closest football grounds in the UK and into one of the most feared firms in the country.

Growing up in Dundee as football crazy young boys they faced an early choice, Dundee United or Dundee FC.

Kenny McCall chose United and John Robb picked the dark blue of Dundee.

As they approached their teenage years a new youth phenomenon which had already began to appear on the football terraces of Britain, started to spread like wildfire throughout every town and city in Scotland and into Dundee.

The Casual was born.

Instead of becoming bitter rivals and sworn enemies they stood side by side in the one and only firm in the city which 'defended' both clubs. This is the true, honest and very unique story of the Dundee Utility thugs."

Regardless of what you think of the idea of casuals and Utility this is a local book, written by local guys with a very local subject matter.

No doubt there will be the usual round of condemnation from those who know little or nothing of the local casual scene which began around 25 years ago but before buying tickets for the offended bus we reckon you could do worse than read the book first.

It's a warts and all account of what went on around the casual scene for years and many of the guys involved still go along to Dens and Tannadice today, quite remarkable given that they were often accused of not being football fans at all.

Good Luck to the authors Kenny and John, we're looking forward to reading their story.
