Speroni Signs 3 Year Contract and Billio/Di Marchi Have Contracts Cancelled By FIFA

Dundee Online, the official site of Dundee Football Club  http://www.dundeefc.co.uk/ie.htm received an email from Peter Marr himself with the brilliant news that Julian Speroni signed a 3 year contract for the club on Friday.

Peter decided the official website should have the news first and none of the weekend media carried the story. So at least Dundee-Mad are ahead of them.

So whilst we were prying into dusty corners, finding rumours that he had been approached by Italian clubs and one Scottish paper said Celtic were sniffing around also, the big man had signed.

This is great news and although a lot of the over 1,000 support Dundee took to Kirkcaldy today did not know this, the loud ovation he received, answered with a clenched fist and a punching of the Dundee badge above his heart told us all we needed to know.

After the game a chance meeting with Chairman Jimmy Marr had your intrepid reporter searching for a scoop. "Come on, Jim, there must be something you can tell me? What about Julian, what's going on?"

When Jimmy smiled and said "you mean you didn't know. He signed on Friday, it's been on the official site since Saturday." Well blow me down with a feather, I must remember to press "Refresh" when going on any site.

He went on "We felt it was important to tell it straight to the fans on the Internet sites rather than go to the media."

His parting comment was "Like your site, I go on it at least once a week to see what you're saying. Give my regards to the guys who post on there." Then he was off in his Mercedes before I could pick myself up from the ground.

FIFA have cancelled the contracts of Di Marchi and Billio which must be a relief to all at Dens as the pair were costing Dundee a fortune. Whether they will now appeal against this decision remains to be seen.

Match Report For Today's friendly at Kirkcaldy will be on within the hour.
