James McPake spoke to the broadcast media ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Queen of the South. The manager is looking to build on last weekend’s win over Partick Thistle.

A win in Dumfries could see Dundee jump level with 2nd place in the Ladbrokes Championship table depending on results but the manager insisted no one is looking at that just now. He said, “I don’t think it is one we will even speak about as a group, the players of course will be aware of it but we need to take care of our game.”

“We need to go down there and make sure the performance is right and the main thing is we get a positive result and bring the points back up the road and whatever happens elsewhere happens.”

The teams have met twice this season with a draw in the first meeting before a Stephen Dobbie double gave the Doonhamers all three points at Dens, the manager continued, “In the two games we have played them we have failed to beat them. They came here and deservedly won the game. We almost snatched a point.”

“For me they have one of the league’s best players so they are always a threat. It’s a tough place to go and, like we were a few weeks ago, they are desperate to get something positive around their football club.”

“It’s a difficult game but we need to go down there confident that we can come away with three points.”

Jordan McGhee, Cammy Kerr and Jamie Ness have all returned to training ahead of this weekend’s match.
