FIFA Investigate Sara Deal!

The Sun today claims that FIFA are to investigate the transfer of Juan Sara from Paraguayan club Tacuary. His former club claim they haven't received a penny of a £1 million transfer fee from Dundee.

Sara joined Dundee in the summer of 2000 on a loan deal and at the start of this season it was thought he had been bought by Dundee for a fee close on half a million pounds.

Tacuary are now saying Dundee are owe them $1.6 million, which is about a million in British money.

If these statements are true, Dundee are due to face the beaks at FIFA's headquarters, could face a large fine and Juan could be sent back to Paraguay as a result.

Failure to reach the top 6 will hit Dundee hard in the pocket as gate money in the bottom half of the league will no way compare with the top section. Nor will the monetary pay outs, which depends on how high a team finishes at the end of each season.

Juan Sara has been linked to a permanent move to Millwall in the close season but if FIFA decide Dundee have acted dishonourably the player could still be deemed to be the property of Tacuary and any transfer deal could be between them and Millwall.

A Dundee spokesman claimed the club had heard nothing from FIFA, but FIFA, according to the Sun, have confirmed a report has been filed with them for future action. The spokesman went on to say "We are surprised by this news because we are still involved in amicable discussions with the club as regards the level and timing of the payment."

The only unfortunate in this case is Juan himself. For his sake let's hope it gets sorted and the player can go on to fulfil his dreams in English football.
